The Dreamville camp is giving fans the ultimate surprise tonight: a Gangsta Grillz mixtape. The label powerhouse made it official and broke the news last night that the tape will drop tonight at 7 PM EST. Accompanying the announcement was a 25-second clip featuring one of Drama’s signature rants and cameos from various Dreamville artists.
There are countless Gangsta Grillz collaborations but this one will mark the first with an entire musical roster. The legendary mixtape series has gone through a recent revamp within music and now, its run continues. The name of the DJ Drama-hosted tape is D-Day, likely referencing the bomb that Dreamville is ready to drop.
Dreamville general J. Cole is definitely excited, tweeting that the Drama tape is “Smoke!!!!!!!!” The tape’s announcement is the label’s latest release since the Revenge of the Dreamers 3 deluxe edition dropped early last year. There aren’t any confirmed tracks or guest appearances, but fans can expect a few surprises to be featured. Regardless, listeners can still expect the entire Dreamville roster and more to show up on the album credits.
The D-Day mixtape is apart of an even bigger surprise that’s expect to unravel this weekend. Festival attendees will be the first to officially see the project performed live. The two-day event is set to begin this Saturday with a packed roster of dope acts ready to rock the house. Performers on the bill include the Dreamville roster, along with Lil Baby, Wizkid, Fivio Foreign, and Moneybagg Yo.
The most interesting one is a special Gangsta Grillz performance, featuring classic Drama collaborators Lil Wayne, T.I., and Jeezy. For everyone that’s attending, they can definitely expect a great turnout at the festival. If anyone can’t be there, Dreamville has teamed up with Amazon Music to live stream the event on Twitch and Prime Video.
