Music Video Premiere + Interview: RJAE drops visual for “4 I Go”

Last year, the hip hop world rejoiced as announcements of a global label partnership between Motown and NBA YoungBoy made headlines. This year, rising YoungBoy signee RJAE is making headlines of his own. Remixd Magazine spoke with RJAE exclusively ahead of the release of his latest music video “4 I Go.”

A native of New Orleans, RJAE spent the better part of his upbringing perfecting his creative talents while pursuing a music career. After releasing several successful independent projects, the young rapper would eventually garner the attention of industry heavyweights, including A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, future manager Fee Banks, and of course, rap star NBA YoungBoy.

Since then, RJAE has continued to do what he does best—make good music. Amid growing demand for his melodic vibes, the budding rapper dropped February’s “4 I Go,” a sentimental track highlighting his innermost feelings towards a previous lover.

With its ballad-like quality, the single’s beat expertly combines a catchy mix of hard-hitting hi-hats and softer piano accompaniment. Still, perhaps most captivating is RJAE’s melodic flow and willingness to be vulnerable.

“With “4 I Go,” I was working on my project, and I had a shorty that I had been with for a while at the time,” RJAE shared with Remixd Magazine. “I wanted to show her how much I appreciated her, especially because she had a lot of bad experiences with other guys cheating on her and breaking her heart. The lyrics for the song are the words that poured out of my mouth, to her.”

Fast forward to March, and the young rapper has reignited hype for the bubbling single after taking to Instagram last week, to drop a 26-second teaser captioned, “#4IGo, #MusicVideoOTW.”

Now, the video is here after much anticipation from his audience.

A still from the video for “4 I Go”

The “4 I Go” visual reveals a romantic interaction between RJAE and a leading lady as the young rapper narrates his love. “We’re having fun shooting these videos, and we’re really going to be dropping some movies,” Rjae shared. “We have a lot of new music, new features, and new videos coming soon,” he added.

As fans grow more familiar with Never Broke Again’s roster of talent, the spotlight grows bigger for artists like RJAE, who ironically describes himself as “lowkey, very antisocial.” Still, support from his fans and team continues to foster a much bigger drive to succeed.

“I have a lot more eyes on me now, so I feel like I have a lot more responsibility when it comes to music. Having a strong team, plus the love I get from the fans, makes me more comfortable with the work I’m doing. The love is much bigger than the hate, and I embrace that.”
