Following a flurry of music videos from her first full-length LP Hues, a cacophony of virtual performances, Pasadena-raised singer, writer and all-round artist Fana Hughes is bubbling with expectancy as she nears her next studio project.

“I have a few things coming in a few weeks that I’m really excited about” the You Tube Music “Class Of 2021” global indie artist honoree tells REMIXD Magazine.

But it hasn’t always been rosy, hither to her savory Hues record that recently surpassed 5 million streams on Spotify, the LA based artist who is one of nine children recalls her adverse childhood when she lost her voice in an unexpected incident.

“I had scarlet fever, tonsillitis, and strep throat at the same time,” before her mom, a dancer and healer concocted her natural medicines and elixirs that restored her voice.

Following the voiceless scare, Fana hailing from a musical and artistic family vehemently continued to explore different forms of art such as violin classes she immersed herself in for eight years, learning bass guitar from her dad, venturing into theater-writing, and even being casted for a musical where she sang Elvis Presley songs every night for nine months:

“Being in the musical allowed me to discover things about my voice in a totally different way,” she shares.

As we gear closer towards her latest project, the “Yellow” singer with velvet vocals sat down with us to chop it up on her Hues project and what we can expect from the LA starlet moving forward.
