Seattle-based singer Paris Alexa is leaning into the feeling of new love on her latest single, “HOLD THE LIGHT.” Released with an accompanying music video, the feel-good R&B track was written by Paris and produced by RJ Parker. It follows “Honeymoon” as the latest preview of her forthcoming EP, Love & Other Lessons.
Inspired by Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay,” “HOLD THE LIGHT” brings a dance-ready energy to a love story still in its early chapters. Paris sings about sunlit mornings spent tangled in the sheets and wanting to stretch those moments just a little longer. But she knows the feeling can’t be held forever: “Light can’t be held / It can only be felt.”
“There’s this misconception that happy music is corny, and so we really set out to prove that wrong with ‘HOLD THE LIGHT,’” Paris says. “I really just wanted to make people move. I love making people dance, and that’s always going to be an underlying motivation for all my music.”
The single adds a new chapter to the story taking shape on Love & Other Lessons. While “Honeymoon” reflects on the intention and commitment that help a relationship last, “HOLD THE LIGHT” captures the rush of falling in love. Across the upcoming EP, Paris pairs sultry R&B with candid reflections on love, self-discovery and growing into womanhood.
