What city are you from/ Where are you based now?

I’m from New York/ New Jersey but I live in Los Angeles now.

What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get your artist name?

My artist name is my real name. Mia Grace, Grace is my middle name.

At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in music?

I always saw myself going on this career path. My parents started helping me when I was around 13 because I showed I was really serious. They took me to sessions and auditions. I’ve been making music since then, but my career changed when I moved to California.

Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your sound today? If so, how?

Yes, everyone in my family and even extended family, is a creative. We are all frequently collaborating and always supporting each other. I think because of this my taste in music is extremely broad and it’d be a lot harder to pursue this career without their support.

How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar with you?

Moody, melodic and fun. I love fun lyrics, lots of harmonies and combining genres.

What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires you?

I couldn’t live without making music. I’m always hearing melodies and writing in my head. I love that music connects so many people and can alter thoughts and feelings. Music just feels essential to me.

Do you have any hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

Outside of music, I love anime and basketball. I don’t think about staying creative, creativity is just at the forefront of my life. I think being creative is involved in many practical things in life!

What are some of your music career goals for the future?

I haven’t performed any of my music live!! That is my next big goal!

Tell us about your debut single “Stuck.” What is it about?

“Stuck” is my debut. It is a single leading up to my album release. I wrote this song because I have a fascination with the moon and stars and I just wanted to use it metaphorically. The song is about realizing how in love you are with someone. A lot of times people get scared to fall in love. The song explores this theme of being reluctant but feeling “stuck” like, well I’m in love and that’s just how it is.

What has the response been like to that project?

I’m so happy with the response. I always try to not have any expectations and I didn’t expect as many people to repost it and support me. Friends, family, my dad’s fans. There’s just been so much love coming my way and I really appreciate it.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we should be on the lookout for?

I already have my next single planned. It’s completely different from stuck. It’s really upbeat and fun compared to “Stuck” which is more moody and mid-tempo.

What message do you hope fans take away from your music?

I just want people to know they are not alone and they are loved. I hope that I can be a voice for people who feel unheard or invisible. This is only my first single but the album explores many different perspectives and emotions and people should feel okay embracing all of them even if they are contradictory.
