On July 21, 2022, Mako Cash laid down the blueprint for what an underground project should sound like. On that day, he released his 7-song album titled “UNDRHTD.” He easily went seven for seven in solid songs on this electronic, spacey, confident album. He kept the energy at an all-time high for the entirety of this project. There’s not a moment on this album where I can’t see myself in the middle of a moshpit raging.
The only song to receive an official music video on “UNDRHTD” was track 3, “ALLEGIANCE.” Overall, I believe each track is excellent, and the next track is always amped by the previous. This project is great if you want to rage out and have fun, but it’s even better if you leave it on repeat and keep the party going for as long as possible. But, there seems to be one track that sticks out among the rest. The music video for “ALLEGIANCE” has reached over 15,000 views in just four months and is Mako Cash’s most well-performing video to date.
And rightfully so. First and foremost, Mako Cash opens up with one of the most iconic bars: “I pledge allegiance to the Glock.” Obviously, this bar is humorous and is one dramatic way to open up a song, but by doing so, he matches the energy and pace of the beat and shares that if someone were to mess with him, he has the means of retaliation.
Another reason is the incredible visual Mako Cash attached to the song. Sometimes, to boost a song’s overall view, an artist may decide to release a visual to it so that there are now two elements for the music that amplify one another. The video cuts from an impressive rooftop performance Mako Cash puts on and clips from a riot that was going on. These two different scenes become cohesive through the power of his music. “ALLEGIANCE” is a song about mayhem, so these two scenes blend perfectly into this fantastic musical and visual experience.
