Masego might be the messiah of live performance and his tour finale in Los Angeles earlier this month is divine evidence of said proclamation.
Masego’s method of math is surely mad, but it’s also anything but fuzzy
The inputs for the equation were simple, a packed house at The Greek Theatre, a lone opener in Nigerian-American vocalist Lekan and a sprawling hour and fifteen minute set. The output of the formula, however, yielded far more value than one would expect the figures to produce. And instead of “Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally” (PEMDAS), the order of operations was more like: throw Masego, his band and an outdoor amphitheater full of fans into the mix and let the good times do the math. The result? The musical equivalent of a square root you actually want to see simplified—also known as the factor of a wildly entertaining evening, to say the least!

From start to finish the entire show oozed this sort of no nonsense aura further backing up the stern and artistic ambience of Masego‘s Fix Your Face LP album. Despite being intact with star-studded features from R&B legends such as Keyshia Cole and Musiq Soulchild and Dancehall icon Buju Bantu, among others, Masego drew for no special guests outside of his group of close collaborators, which also double as his instruments.
It’s hard to even begin to quantify it all. Masego’s masterclass tirelessly meanders from sharp vocals and the keys, to playbacks looping live and bringing tracks to life in realtime. And of course, playing his heart on his trademark Saxophone.
After seeing the ‘Fix Your Face Tour’ live, it’s clear it’s Grammys or bust for Masego—and rightfully so
As the show opens with his angelic, guilty-pleaser anthem “Heaven” and moves through cult-favorites such as his meteoric hit “Mystery Lady” and show-stopping assisted effort on Alex Isley’s “Good N Plenty” fans start to get the hint that Masego’s bag is deep. And that true deep dive through his discography affirmed that not only is Masego a hitmaker, but a true thought leader and icon-in-the-making before our eyes.
The crowd’s reactions to shock drops of his cuts, such as the Drake-sampled “Navajo” and nearly decade-old fan-favorite “Tadow” let us all know how enduring his sound truly is. But it’s the artful and soulful stylings of new jams such as “Breathe” and singer’s songs like “Sign” and his Lekan-leaning “Gone” collaboration that left an indelible mark on us all. In short, to say that this tour makes Masego worthy of the nod for The Best R&B Performance at the 2027 Grammys is almost beneath him.
