Megan Thee Stallion shared the news that her next project will be an independent release. As fans have awaited new music from her, she hasn’t been the furthest from the spotlight all while on a hiatus. In September, she made her unofficial return to music while featuring on “Bongos,” a highly anticipated track from Cardi B that she was featured on. Her appearance on the song lead to stronger anticipation of her fans for her official return to music. Just recently, Megan Thee Stallion shared with her fans that she is releasing an album independently confirming new music will be coming soon.

On Friday, Megan made a surprise appearance on her constant collaborator Lil Ju, famously known as LilJuMadeTheBeat’s, Instagram live where she shared with her fans that she will be releasing her next project “independently.” “This part of my album is definitely very much funded by Megan because, you know, we’re trying to get off… y’all know what’s tea,” she said. Additionally, she confirms that she does not currently have a label. “But I have no label right now,” she added. For several years, Megan has been at odds with the owner of the label, Carl Crawford. She has been trying to be released from her album for over two years.

More recently, she filed a court case in 2022 claiming that her label incorrectly classified her album Something for the Hotties as less than an album. She also filed in August 2022 seeking for more royalties. This news is a victory in her longstanding battle against the 1501 label.

Megan’s Act one

Moreover, Megan has not released a project since her 2022 project Traumazine. Traumazine includes singles such as “Plan B” and “Sweetiest Pie” featuring pop singer Dua Lipa. The album earned a top four spot on the Billboard US top 200’s chart during its release.

Furthermore, fans can potentially expect new music from Megan sooner than later. Earlier this week, she teased the release of something new with a three photo post reading “Act One.” Although she never specified the meaning of the post, fans continue to anticipate her return to music.
