The best new music from the week of October 17th!
It’s New Music Friday! Admittedly, this would be considered a slower music release week than usual. Despite this, there’s still a handful of gems to be uncovered and worth your while. This week’s edition features standout releases from Ty Dolla $ign, Gucci Mane, Skrilla, and many more. Read on to find the latest tracks and albums that dropped this week.
New Music Friday Picks
Ty Dolla $ign – ‘TYCOON’ (Album)
Since linking with Kanye, Ty Dolla $ has taken even more strides in his career in terms of his artistry. ‘TYCOON’ is the result of him showing that he doesn’t need any help when it comes to standing on his own. If anything is holding this project back, it has to be his obscure beat selection. A few of the songs feel like unreleased ‘VULTURES’ tracks that seemingly take away from his typically fun melodic R&B sound.
Gucci Mane – ‘Episodes’ (Album)
Considering how unpredictable he is, it’s hard not to appreciate how much Gucci has matured over the years. His new album coincides with his new book and hopes to take listeners behind the curtain of his psyche. For that reason, this shapes out to be one of his most well-rounded releases as you can tell he truly took his time.
Skrilla – “Rich Sinners” ft Lil Yachty
Undoubtedly, Skrilla has taken over the internet with his viral catchphrase that seems to be popular among all ages. What better way to capitalize on this moment than with a feature and co-sign from one of the biggest stars? In my opinion, based on his last two features Yachty is on a feature run and demolishing every verse.
Female Fetales
Monaleo – ‘Who Did The Body’ (Mixtape)
As a result of the past couple of months, Monaleo has truly fleshed out her brand and built her fame brick by brick. Her immense hunger is put on full display in her new mixtape and even puts new listeners on notice. There is no doubt that she will become a heavy hitter among female rappers due to her ability to rap and sing at a high level.
Bunna B – “LMAO”
Besides YK Niece, Bunna B seems to be leading the charge for young female rappers. “LMAO” shows off her refreshing sound that is based on her bubbly spirit. Despite the fact that it goes against the grain of what’s popular, she’s such a positive breath of fresh air that can be appreciated by all ages.
Rappers Delight
K Camp – ‘KISS 6 (Deluxe)’ (Album)
It seems to me that even 10 years later, K Camp can still be classified as underrated and underappreciated. However, the deluxe version of ‘KISS 6’ could change everything for him and put him in a new light. I appreciate how he channeled his OG sound that we all know and love.
Shordie Shordie – “Passaway”
Baltimore’s Shordie Shordie is getting ready to drop a new album and we are excited. With this in mind, he released his heartfelt single, “Passaway” to build some hype. This vulnerable track takes a deep dive into his life, as he doesn’t hold back lyrically/emotionally.
Aklesso – “Giving Up”
To conclude this edition of New Music Friday, we have a new single from Miami-based artist, Aklesso. Following up on “Range!” featuring 1K Phew, Akleeso is on a war path with his evolved sound. Without a doubt, you can sense that the subject material comes straight from the heart, making it that much more relatable.
We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
