The best new music from the week of October 24th!
It’s New Music Friday! It should be noted that the fall of 2025 has lived up to all the hype musically. Admittedly, I had low expectations beforehand, but each week has given me more hope. This week’s edition features standout releases from Halle, Megan Thee Stallion, Mac Miller, and many more. Read on to find the latest tracks and albums that dropped this week.
New Music Friday Picks
Halle – ‘love?…or something like it’ (Album)
Despite never getting a second Chloe x Halle album, we can sleep calmly knowing they are prospering as solo artists. For instance, Halle’s debut album was recently released and it’s certainly one of the most polarizing releases of 2025. It’s primarily carried by her strong vocal performances but parts of the listening experience can be diluted due to the toxic subject matter. If only she could’ve made her own version of “Lemonade” for the new generation, opposed to feeding into the toxic love culture.
Megan There Stallion – “LOVER GIRL”
Without a doubt, it’s a fair assessment to say Meg doesn’t have that same fire she once had. In contrast to her prime days, “LOVER GIRL” is a major fall from grace. Sadly, her excessive vulgarity takes away from the heartfelt message.
Mac Miller – ‘GO:OD AM(10th Anniversary)’ (Album)
In the case of Mac Miller, his estate has done a tremendous job with his posthumous releases and keeping his legacy alive. As a result of the 10th anniversary of one of his best albums, we were gifted a deluxe edition. For him to be only 26 at his death, this deluxe album is a gentle reminder of his immense talent. If you’ve never gotten the chance to leave, now’s the time as this is his most transformative body of work.
R&B Corner
Leon Thomas – ‘PHOLKS’ (EP)
Ultimately, it’s time to have a very serious conversation about Leon Thomas and his artistry. His newly released EP confirms that ‘MUTT’ was not luck and a true reflection of his talent and him making R&B feel fresh again. Specifically, he pushes the boundaries with the combination of live instrumentation with hip-hop, funk, and rock experimentation.
Queen Naija – ‘30.‘ (EP)
In light of her 30th birthday, Queen Naija recently dropped an 8-track EP. This project definitely came at the right time as it perfectly encapsulates fall vibes. It’s quite remarkable how far she’s come as an artist, especially when people didn’t take her seriously at first. ‘30’ demands your respect as her longevity speaks for itself.
Ari Lennox – “Under The Moon”
Miraculously, Ari Lennox was able to creatively blend the worlds of Halloween & R&B in her new single. Ironically, she taps into her inner-Amy Winehouse to bring out the pain in her vocals. It’s safe to say that her upcoming album will serve as a pivotal chapter on how the rest of her career will pan out post-Dreamville.
Rapper’s Delight
BNYX – ‘LOADING…’ (EP)
Broadly speaking, BNYX has proved to be one of the most impactful producers of the 2020s. ‘LOADING’ hopes to solidify his position as a great with some help from newer artists and seasoned vets like Earl Sweatshirt. Per usual, you can expect a homerun lead single from primary collaborator, Yeat that completely ties everything together.
Eem Triplin – ‘Coming Undone’ (EP)
Even if things look awfully bad for the underground hip-hop scene, it seems to be in safe hands with Eem Triplin. The heavenly production for ‘Coming Undone’ sets the tone for Eem to slide in and work his magic. Nonetheless, if it wasn’t for the help of his core fans, this song might’ve never seen the light of day on DSP’s thanks to their begging.
We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
