A lot of artists talk about “betting on themselves,” but Pan Tèrra (@pan___terra) actually did it. The Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer spent the last five years balancing a career as a software engineer at Apple while quietly building momentum as an independent artist. Her new single “Quit My Job” captures the exact moment those two worlds finally collided.
Produced by Rob Aragón, whose credits include work with Victony and Mr Eazi, the track feels emotionally restless in the best way possible. Built around a hypnotic bassline and atmospheric production, “Quit My Job” leans into burnout, frustration, and the uncomfortable realization that stability doesn’t always equal fulfillment.
“If the man is the sickness, it can’t be the cure,” she sings, cutting directly into the emotional core of the record. There’s tension all throughout the song, but also relief. It sounds like someone finally making peace with a decision they’ve been avoiding for years.
“Nomadic Soul-Pop“
Raised between Nigeria, the UK, Hong Kong, and the United States, Pan Tèrra describes her sound as “nomadic soul-pop,” blending psychedelic soul, afro-pop, funk, and theatrical storytelling into something that feels genuinely unique. That global influence comes through naturally on the record without ever feeling forced or overly polished.
The story behind the release is part of what makes it hit harder. Pan Tèrra studied both Computer Science and Music at Brown University before moving into tech full-time, all while continuing to make music late into the night. According to the artist, there came a point where playing it safe stopped feeling safe altogether. “Quit My Job” became the soundtrack to choosing herself creatively, regardless of the uncertainty that came with it.
With her debut EP expected later this year and momentum building online, Pan Tèrra already feels like an artist people are starting to discover in real time.
