Some songs just never get old, and Wale and Miguel’s “Lotus Flower Bomb” is definitely one of them.
On Saturday night (October 17), Wale gave fans an unexpected treat during his intimate performance at Blue Note Los Angeles, bringing out R&B singer Miguel for a rare live rendition of their 2011 hit, “Lotus Flower Bomb.” The surprise reunion came nearly 15 years to the day after the song’s original release, making the moment even more special.
The performance, captured on video by Remixd Magazine’s Tallie Spencer, marked a rare opportunity to see the two artists share the stage for one of the most recognizable collaborations of their careers.

Wale was in Los Angeles for a series of performances celebrating his latest album, everything is a lot., released in November 2025. The project, which features appearances from Leon Thomas, Ty Dolla $ign, Shaboozey, Andra Day, and more, finds the Washington, D.C. rapper exploring personal struggles, relationships, and the emotional weight of navigating life and success.
But while fans came to hear music from his latest chapter, Wale made sure to revisit a classic.
Backed by a live band, Wale and Miguel brought “Lotus Flower Bomb” back to life in the intimate jazz-club setting, offering a refreshing take on a record that has remained a staple in hip-hop and R&B playlists for more than a decade.
Originally released on October 11, 2011, as part of Wale’s sophomore album Ambition, “Lotus Flower Bomb” helped introduce a new generation of listeners to the rapper’s romantic side. Miguel’s smooth vocals paired with Wale’s poetic approach to storytelling created a timeless collaboration that continues to resonate with fans 15 years later.
Despite the record’s popularity, joint performances from the two artists have been few and far between. The pair previously performed the song together on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon in 2012 and reunited at Washington, D.C.’s Landmark Music Festival in 2015, making their latest appearance together an especially rare occasion.
Following the Blue Note performance, footage of the reunion began circulating online, catching the attention of Wale himself. The rapper reposted Spencer’s video on X the following morning, writing, “Last night was special.”

And judging by the significance of the reunion, it’s easy to understand why.
For Wale, the performance was another reminder of the lasting impact of his catalog. While everything is a lot. represents a new chapter in his artistry, songs like “Lotus Flower Bomb” continue to hold a special place in the hearts of listeners.
Fifteen years later, the record still hits, and seeing Wale and Miguel perform it together makes the moment that much sweeter.
