Aaric Mychal is blending golden era hip-hop with modern sounds

Dallas-based artist Aaric Mychal is making waves in the music scene with his unique blend of Golden Era hip-hop infused with a modern twist. Rooted in the vibrant music scene of Dallas, Mychal’s journey to musical stardom is as organic as his beats.

“I’ve wanted to make music since I was a kid,” he told RemixdMag. “I’ve always had sounds floating around my head. It’s really cool to be able to get these sounds out and share them with people. At this point, it’s something that I have to do, it’s just a part of me,” Mychal shares passionately.

Drawing inspiration from legendary figures like J Dilla and early G.O.O.D. Music, Mychal’s sound encapsulates the essence of 90s hip-hop while seamlessly integrating contemporary elements. “My biggest influences are easily J Dilla and early G.O.O.D. music. I studied a lot of Dilla when I first started producing. Common, Big Sean, Kid Cudi, 2005-2011 G.O.O.D. Music as a whole had a huge impact on my production as well,” he reveals.

His latest release, “Easy Money,” is a testament to his innovative approach to music production. “Easy Money to me is when you’re getting paid to do something you love. If you love it, it’s not really work,” Mychal explains. The track, which dropped on April 15th, is a mesmerizing fusion of nostalgic samples and contemporary beats, showcasing Mychal’s ability to craft infectious melodies that resonate with listeners.

“Easy Money came to me while I was in the process of flipping the sample you hear on the beat. One of my kids was playing with a toy cash register and it made a ‘chi-ching’ noise. It really caught my attention and gave me the idea to add some money sounds to the beat. From there, I just kept building the song,” he recounts, shedding light on the creative process behind the track.

But Mychal isn’t stopping there. With an instrumental/beat tape titled “Hill Valley Havoc” slated for release this summer, he promises a sonic journey characterized by soulful samples, synth chords, and ominous 808s. Additionally, he’s collaborating with guitarist Prince Chuck on a project dubbed “Attack of The Mutant,” teasing a sound reminiscent of Pete Rock meets The Red-Hot Chili Peppers.

“When it comes to my music, I want fans to know that you are free to create whatever you want. There are no rules when you’re creating your own art. ‘Just Do It’ like Nike says,” Mychal asserts, emphasizing the importance of artistic freedom and self-expression.
