Read our selections below:

Ice Spice – “Gimme A Light”

Interpolating Sean Paul’s “Gimme the Light,” Ice Spice’s drill-heavy single finds the #Y2K rapstress searching high and low for a lighter before blazing it up and getting into some of her hardest bars. As the beat sounds off, Ice Spice confidently raps about having the ability to steal someone’s man, her good looks, and taking a load off. In the song the “Think U The S**t (Fart)” rapper addresses Latto’s claims about having a ghostwriter and implies that she wants to square up, spitting, “Big knock, like I’m not a fighter/Big Ice, I don’t need a writer.” Ice Spice also summarizes her upbringing, expressing how grateful she is to be successful. Lyrics like “Bad bitch came straight out of Fordham/Now I’m rockin’ Balenci’/I remember I couldn’t afford ’em” take the narrative home.

FTO Sett – “Push Up”

FTO Sett’s daunting trap cut “Push Up” shows listeners what it means to beat the odds. In less than two minutes, the 1017 signee taps into his signature flow to highlight his unbreakable spirit. Throughout “Push Up,” FTO Sett also suggests that he has hands for anyone who wants the fade. The rapper humbles his opps, rapping, “Push up, you ain’t no bully/Come down Tate, get hit with this fully (Automatic, n***a)/In my hood I got pull like Tookie.

Say the wrong s**t/He got a life tooken (S**t snatched)/All the competition no rookie.” Before the song ends, FTO Sett issues a warning to his haters, making it clear that they should think twice before challenging him. The song follows his week-old “Duck No Smoke.”

JS aka The Best – “Single

JS aka The Best tells potential partners they should come fully healed and drama-free if they’re trying to date him in “Single.” As the tropical R&B sounds off, JS aka the Beat uses a smooth vocal range to give a hopeless romantic a reality check. He tells this person they can only love someone if they get themselves right first. “All your past relationships/Filled with drama and toxic/Again and again you gotta watch it,” he sings. “Same mistake, you just can’t stop it.” By the second verse, the musician elaborates on his advice, implying that this person should “spend some time alone with [themselves]” and “do the things to get [them] some help.” The lyrical context shows listeners how JS aka The Best wants the best for this person, even if they don’t get together.

Noodah05 – 5 Min of Fame

Noodah05 reflects on his humble beginnings, success, and much more in 5 Min of Fame. Comprised of speaker-knocking trap beats and deafening bars, the 10-track offering touches on loyalty, his charm, getting it out the mud, his vices, and his go-getter mentality, to name a few. Subsequently, Noodah05 dares his opps to catch him outside, dropping a slew of forewarnings not to test his gangster. 5 Min of Fame ultimately highlights Noodah05’s perseverance as he goes through life’s highs and lows.

Loe Shimmy – “Zuper (feat. Wizz Havinn)”

Loe Shimmy and Wizz Havin use a call-and-response flow to talk about their riches, wealth, and more in “Zuper.” Over the jazzy trap beat, the two rappers explain how they’re “tryna hit the top far as they can see.” Moreover, “Zuper” finds Loe Shimmy and Wizz Havin dropping their most flex-worthy rhymes and explains why they choose to keep a small circle of friends.

Zzz – “When U Wrong (feat. NoCap)”

Zzz’s piano-led R&B trap single “When U Wrong” is about cutting off people who aren’t good for your mental health, including loved ones. The two musicians use a rap-singing cadence to speak about fighting demons, helping their families financially, and their humble beginnings. Similarly, NoCap highlights how his family’s divorce shaped his views on love. “When U Wrong” mirrors this tug-and-pull effect of staying around someone despite the bad outweighing the good. Deeper into “When U Wrong” Zzz speaks about a relationship that has him head over heels. The musician raps about proclaiming his love from the rooftops, spoiling his Mrs, and “drowning in his feelings.”
