Kolo is in full flex mode on “Money on the Line,” his new single with producer 6ix. The track is the latest preview of SONATA, their eight-track collaborative project, which is set to arrive on October 23.
Built around choir-like vocals and heavy, spacious drums, the production gives Kolo plenty of room to move. He takes it, rapping about money, style and success with the kind of confidence that feels central to the song’s appeal. There’s no hesitation in his delivery. Kolo sounds comfortable talking his talk, while still leaving space for sharp observations about the difference between looking successful and actually getting there.
“Money on the Line is a song where I get to talk that talk,” Kolo says in a statement. “My confidence is unapologetic and that’s when I create my best work.”
Kolo is building his own world
The single offers another look at the creative world Kolo and 6ix are building on SONATA. Known for his long-running work with Logic, 6ix co-produced the project, with Kolo also contributing to the production. The album takes inspiration from the structure of a sonata, moving between sounds and moods while staying tied to one shared vision. It was recorded at Sonata Recording Studios.
Kolo’s perspective reaches beyond one city or scene. Experiences across Japan, Belgium, Nigeria and Atlanta have helped shape an approach that pairs sharp lyricism with a global outlook. Earlier this year, he reworked Laghonia’s “My Love” for “Lonely Dreams,” a Tracklib collaboration that turned a sample from the Peruvian psychedelic rock band into a song about ambition and sacrifice.
Since emerging in 2023, Kolo has built an audience across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, with more than 250 million views across the platforms. His breakout single “THEY KNOW US” has passed one million Spotify streams, while his project What It Means to See It All has surpassed 1.5 million.
“Money on the Line” finds him leaning into the boldness that first draws listeners in. With SONATA around the corner, Kolo and 6ix are giving fans a clearer sense of what this partnership can sound like.
