New Music Friday Picks
Yung Miami – Watch Dis! (Album)
Two years after the City Girls split, Yung Miami is officially solo with Watch Dis!, a 21-track debut album. The guest list is deep: Travis Scott on “Just Might Go,” Summer Walker on “Ride for You,” Bryson Tiller on “Old Time Sake” and Quavo and G Herbo on “TMTC.” She also shows love to home on “Dade County” with Rick Ross, Trina and Trick Daddy. “Spend Dat,” her highest-charting song yet at No. 17 on the Hot 100, sits at track four, and the album closes with two remixes of it featuring Lil Baby, Kodak Black, Davido, Shenseea and Vybz Kartel.
Anderson .Paak & Cordae – Heavy Is the Crown (Album)
Anderson .Paak and Cordae have teamed up for Heavy Is the Crown, an 11-track joint album out today. The album opens with “58th Floor” and runs through cuts like “Airbender,” “Karma Tax” and “Days Like This” before closing on “Godfather II.” It also includes “A Good Day,” which the duo shared ahead of the release. Fans have been particularly excited for this one.
Toosii – Platinum Heart 2 (Album)
Toosii is back with Platinum Heart 2, a 13-track sequel to his 2020 project that gave fans “Love Cycle” and “Truth Be Told.” Opener “Lil Terrio” looks back at where the Raleigh artist started, and the album is anchored by “Highway Love.” Hunxho joins him on “First Night,” and TrillGotJuice produced “Boot Up.” Earlier singles “Nights Prayed” and “Please Don’t Go” featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again also made the tracklist. He’ll take the new songs on the road for the Platinum Nights Tour, which runs from Nov. 17 in Houston through Nov. 24 in Detroit.
LAILA! – We’ll Never Be This Young Again (Album)
LAILA! returns with her sophomore album, We’ll Never Be This Young Again, two years after her debut Gap Year! The 20-year-old Brooklyn native wrote and produced the 12-track project, which she calls “the next chapter” to her debut, with “stories of love, adventure, heartbreak, longing, anxiety, and ultimately, letting go.” The focus track is “SO MUCH, SO MUCH,” and earlier singles “Miss Mango,” “Anything Could Happen,” the title track and “ANGEL” featuring Teezo Touchdown are all here. Fresh off opening the For the Girls Tour with Kali Uchis and Mariah The Scientist, she has real momentum heading into this one.
John Legend – Muse (Album)
John Legend’s new album Muse is a full team-up with Pharrell Williams, who produced all 16 tracks, co-wrote the project and appears on six songs, including the opening title track. The two started recording in Paris in January 2025. Clipse also pop up on “Bodies On The Floor,” which is a fun curveball on a John Legend album. Fans already heard lead single “Daylight” in September, followed by “Fireflies.” Legend says Pharrell’s idea from the start was “this Black James Bond aesthetic” with “a modern backbeat at its foundation.”
Luna Elle, RSVP (Album)
Toronto R&B singer Luna Elle has released her debut album, RSVP, a 12-track project out today. The title stands for Rhythm, Soul, Vulnerability and Passion, and she calls the album “my way of inviting love into my life in all its forms.” “Lose Me” and “Emotion” are the focus tracks, and Shae Universe joins her on “Blame Me.” Earlier singles “AMPM,” “Moment Of Silence,” “Come To Me” and “Wasting Away” also made the tracklist. RSVP follows her 2022 EP Loss of Valuable Energy (L.O.V.E.) and 2023’s Ms. Elle.
More New Music
Mannywellz brought in Odeal for a new version of “cry on you,” a song that first appeared on his Small Chops EP in June. Mannywellz wrote and produced the track, which has lyrics in English, Yoruba and Nigerian Pidgin, and he says Odeal “really brought that missing piece.” Yeat also dropped Luh Leakyz Vol. 1, a tape of fan-requested songs recorded during different stretches of his career. It includes “HeliMan,” “Lil Krazy,” “Timë Passed” and “MÄRCHING,” which first surfaced through his Fortnite collab.
Kolo linked with GRAMMY-nominated producer 6ix, best known for his work with Logic, on the eight-track SONATA, named after the studio where they made it. “Pyemwas Son” is a tribute to Kolo’s late mother, and “It’s Me at the Top” is a good place to start. B.U.G Antman also has a new 14-track album, Colony Season, out today.
