New Music Friday: The best new music featuring Tyla, 6lack, and Sexyy Red

The best new music from the week of April 17th!

It’s New Music Friday and 420 is around the corner. Because of this, we have to do our part and get your playlist loaded with the newest tracks. This week’s edition of New Music Friday features releases from Tyla, 6lack, Sexyy Red, and many more.

New Music Friday Picks

Tyla – “SHE DID IT AGAIN” ft Zara Larsson

On closer inspection, you have to wonder how Tyla‘s recent releases continue to miss the mark. The reality is she was positioned to be Rihanna and has not lived up to the hype. At this time, you would think a feature with an artist like Zara would do wonders for her career, but sadly not.

6lack – “Sunday Again” ft 2 Chainz

Historically speaking, 6lack’s music has always had a darker tone, but “Sunday Again” certainly signifies a new era. Over the past decade, he has gone ghost, but his time away has given him a creative fresh start. St this point, he seems to be gearing up to drop another classic.

Sexyy Red – ‘Yo Favorite Trappa Favorite Rappa’ (Album)

Once in a while, Sexyy Red will drop a smash hit that makes you reconsider if she’s done peaking yet. However, moments like this are far and in between on her new album, which will likely leave you underwhelmed. As demonstrated, you can have every turn producer possible and it still wont be enough.

Female Fetales

JT – “Numb”

Looking back, JT has been on a tear, since she went fully solo. Building on this, “Numb” has all the signs of a hit based on her contagious energy. In essence, she has perfectly balanced the line of rachetness with an alternative aesthetic that we haven’t seen since prime Nicki.

Queen Naija – “Ring”

When it comes to Queen Naija, she has always been known for letting her music reflect her reality. Given that, she was recently proposed to, she commemorated that special moment with “Ring.” Overall, this is a passionate love ballad that reeks of authenticity and a new chapter for her.

Rapper’s Delight

Tezzus/Diamond* – ‘UY SCUTI BOYZ’ (Album)

To begin again, YSL has been pushing a new wave of artists like Tezzus & Diamond* that have an unorthodox underground sound. Aside from this, they recently dropped their first collab and there are a lot of highs and lows. On the downside, if you can get past Tezzus’ rowdy style, you will see Diamond* is the true star and carried.

MexikoDro – “Knuckle”

As trends evolve, there will always be a market for grown man rap, and MexikoDro is fully capitalizing on it. Amid rising demand, he continues to make bangers like “Knuckle” that encapsulate what the daily grind feels like. However, even if he never cracks into the mainstream, he will always have a niche audience that will support him endlessly.

bdifferent – “Rob The Game”

Finally, for our last spot of New Music Artist, we have Atlanta’s own, bdifferent. As with the NBA playoffs just kicking off, this is the perfect track to get you hyped before your team goes to battle. At any rate, he could go viral due to his recent consistency and hunger he brings to every track.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
