The best new music from the week of April 24th!
It’s New Music Friday! Across the board, April will be remembered as a consistent month for new releases. This week’s edition of New Music Friday features standout releases from Kehlani, Latto, and Action Bronson.
New Music Friday Picks
Kehlani – ‘Kehlani’ (Album)
Every so often, a R&B artist will release their highly anticipated self-titled album and that day has come for Kehlani. Ultimately, besides “Folded,” this album falls short of expectations due to a lack of cohesiveness. As a result, I can’t imagine ‘Kehlani’ having any staying power, because there’s not enough substance to hold listeners over.
Latto – “GOMF” ft Glorilla
Historically speaking, this generation of rappers won’t stop recreating 2000’s classics. At the core, Latto’s “GOMF” is a lazy rehash with minimal differences from the original. Despite me being a sucker for female rapper collaborations, I wish that there were more effort.
Action Bronson – “TRICERATOPS” ft Paul Wall & Lil Yachty
Fundamentally, some of the best rap collaborations are the most odd/obscure combinations. All in all, Action Bronson’s “TRICERATOPS” is one of the wackiest rag-tag team of artists you’ll hear in one song, that somehow works. Without a doubt, this a great comeback song for Bronson and hopefully the lead single to his upcoming album.
R&B Corner
Durand Bernarr – ‘AM I OKAY?!’
From beginning to end, Durand Bernarr has been on a tear all of 2026. Carrying this forward, he continues his momentum with a fiery new single. As evidence shows, there’s no other male vocalist in the same stratosphere as him.
Neila – “Deity”
As mentioned before, I absolutely love the energy that Neila brings in every track. For this reason, she knocks it out the park with “Deity,” the way she channels her inner femininity and Caribbean roots.
Rapper’s Delight
Fredo Bang – “Say Please (Don’t Leave Me)” ft BigXThaPlug
Without a doubt, TikTok has done tremendous effects for helping old songs have a resurgence. In fact, this recently happened to Fredo Bang, and he was able to capitalize on this moment with a remix. To put it simply, the BigX feature takes it to another level and will certainly help this track have even longer staying power.
Flau’jae – “Woah”
As of today, the WNBA season is finally here and one of their brightest young stars, Flau’jae dropped a dope single to commemorate this moment. Without hesitation, she doesn’t waste a second to make her presence felt on this track. As time goes on, if she continues evolving, there will always be a place for her unique lane of rap.
Olumide – “Element”
Finally, our last spot of New Music Friday goes to Olumide’s “Element.” Beneath the surface, this is one of those songs that empowers you to be the best version of yourself. Piece by piece, he has the key intangibles to grow into someone important to the culture.
We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
