New Music Friday: The best new music featuring Chris Brown, Kanye West, and Key Glock

The best new music from the week of June 19th!

It’s New Music Friday! Most importantly, it’s also Juneteenth and there’s a healthy abundance of black excellence on our weekly roundup. This week’s edition features standout releases from Chris Brown, Kanye West, Key Glock, and many more.

New Music Friday Picks

Chris Brown – ‘BROWN: The Chocolate Edition’ (Deluxe Album)

On account of it being Juneteenth, Chris Brown strategically decided to release the deluxe to his album. For that reason, it felt like he hopped in a time machine back to the 2010’s to his prime self. In fact, if the original included the tracks from the deluxe, it would have been held in higher regard.

Kanye West – ‘BULLY’ (Deluxe Album)

One day, Kanye will receive his flowers for setting the precedent for tweaking already-released albums. Without a doubt, the deluxe edition of ‘BULLY’ updated mixes makes it feel like a more different yet enjoyable album. Undeniably, his perfectionism is what sets him apart from his peers.

Key Glock – ‘Project X’ (Album)

To begin with, we have to send our condolences to Tay Keith as his presence is felt immensely through this album via production. Having said that, it’s truly the beats that makes this album so enjoyable. With all of this in mind, you can tell Key Glock was intentional about encapsulating that feel of a lit ass party.

Chlöe & Timbaland – ‘Ressurection’ (Collab Mixtape)

For the longest, fans have been asking Chlöe to work with more compatible producers and she’s finally found her match. Truthfully, this may be her most cohesive project yet. Obviously, she is extremely gifted vocally but Timbaland’s production allows her to shine vocally.

YG – ‘THE GENTLEMEN’S CLUB’ (Album)

Over and over, YG has shown that summer is the best time for his music to flourish and he has just dropped a new album. Reportedly, YG confessed this is the album that he put the most effort into, and it’s very apparent. Beyond this point, he peeled back layers of his life, making this a must-listen.

FKA twigs – “On Your Mind” ft Lil Yachty (Single)

As of now, FKA twigs has to be one of the most experimental artists right now, so it’s only right that she got to work with Lil Yachty. Instantly, you can tell their styles mesh harmoniously. Piece by piece, we are getting closer to her next album and the world she’s sonically building towards.

HXG – “RedRum” (Single)

Across the board, HXG has constantly been overlooked despite being very consistent. In light of it being festival season, you can sense they feel recharged to give a hype banger to rock the summer. Sooner or later, they will be looked at as the engine of the Opium label.

La Reezy – “Family Bizzy” (Single)

In conjunction with it being Juneteenth, New Orleans emerging rapper, La Reezy gifted us “Family Bizzy.” As needed, there is an unfilled gap for artists to pay homage to the ancestors and this track serves that purpose. From start to finish, he solemnly reflects on the black infrastructure and how important it is to keep traditions alive.

justice! – “salute 2 the chief” ft SPOOK (Single)

Lastly, our final spot of New Music Friday goes to Atlanta’s own, justice! At face value, there’s no other city coming close to Atlanta when discussing talented women, especially when they have emerging talent like her. At a deeper level, this fierce collab is the energy we so desperately need to complete this summer.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
