New Music Friday: The best new music featuring Ludacris, Rick Ross, and YG

The best new music from the week of June 12th!

It’s New Music Friday! Taking that into consideration, you have to expect that we’ve got you covered with our favorite releases. This week’s edition features standout releases from Ludacris, Rick Ross, YG, and many more.

New Music Friday Picks

Imani Imani – ‘Papercut’ (Album)

At last, pg Lang has announced their newest signee, Imani Imani and she recently released her label debut. On the surface, she checked every box you would hope for, especially when it comes to her artistry. As it seems, she did more than the bare minimum to leave a lasting impression and wanting more.

Ludacris – “Real Hustla” ft Glorilla (Single)

In historical context, Ludacris never has to make music ever again, based on his accomplishments. With all of this in mind, it’s remarkable that he’s still dropping and doesn’t sound dated, even with a younger act like Glorilla. In fact, her presence made him lock in with “Real Hustla” and channel his younger, hungry self.

YG – “INSECURE” ft JID & Ab-Soul (Single)

As the evidence suggests, men’s mental health awareness is at an all-time high that it’s constantly being covered in rap. By extension of this idea, YG did an exemplary job in allowing himself to be fully vulnerable in his latest release. To top things off, the guest verses from JID & Ab-Soul are guaranteed to blow your socks off, thanks to their elite lyricism.

Zacari – “Real Life” (Single)

On closer inspection, TDE has been more consistent with releases, including the reemergence of deep cuts like Zacari. At the core, his latest single, “Real Life” reminds you of his overlooked talent. Ultimately, his angelic vocals and will have you questioning why he doesn’t drop more often.

Tay-K – “EVERYWHERE I GO/ERUPT” (Singles)

Until recently, incarcerated rappers are now able to stay connected with their fans and still drop. With that said, Tay-K’s recent release isn’t that half bad for someone who’s been locked up for the past decade. Looking ahead, if he lays off the AI it’s a chance, he could make a viral return.

SUNSHINE BENZI – “WAKO/EASTSIDE” (Singles)

Taking a closer look at the next wave of rappers, we have to give our flowers to IL-based rapper, SUNSHINE BENZI. Digging deeper into her discography, she is truly getting better and more confident with every release. In brief moments, you can see shades of Nicki in her rapping, but with her own unique flavor.

Molly Santana – “Can’t Touch This” (Single)

Finally, out last spot of New Music Friday goes to rising star, Molly Santana. Without hesitation, she has made the executive decision to capitalize after being featured on Drake’s last album. Gradually, she’s doing all the right steps to establish herself as a household name.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s edition of New Music Friday!
